Not sure what it is, but riding through the Pudong countryside I feel totally in my element. Seeing common folks work, eat, socialize; exploring new places, seeing a lot of greenery; exercising, plus a couple close calls with other cyclists and trucks and buses, give me a sense of freedom and adventure.
This Saturday afternoon I rode about 35 km in just under 2 hours, going through the villages of Huanglou and Jichang, and then through the town of Chuangsha. I don't have an odometer on my bike, but on Google Earth I can track exactly the roads I've been on and it will calculate the distance for you.

Nothing spectacular happened today, except that the last half an hour was in the dark; while taking a shortcut, I had to go through some very narrow and pitchdark streets of a small village. Don't think a foreigner had ever been through it.
